About My Practice —

My teaching is aligned around addressing all 5 layers of our bodies to tap into each fine grade of energy – physical, energetic, mental, intellectual, and blissful.

I encourage each student to approach the time on their mat with a non-judgmental curiosity, respecting the state and the needs of their bodies, opening the inner landscape of our minds and hearts where all tangible healing resides.

My source of inspiration comes predominantly from witnessing the struggles of our human nature. I aim to speak to healing and therapeutical side of yoga practice in a way that everyone can relate to.

As a teacher, I believe that we can’t rush anything or anyone into practices one is not ready for. With that said, I believe that inspiring yoga practitioners beyond their current state of MIND is necessary.

The ultimate goal is an increased level of energy, openness in our body, and elevated level of awareness and clarity in the mind. I believe it is only through a continuous and extended practice that we can learn all there is to long lasting healing and ultimately reach personal freedom. A carefully designed and guided practice where you literally retreat into yourself can offer just that. Let the attention and breath flow and calm and peace instill within us.

To be in Alena’s presence is to receive a gentle invitation to slow down, turn inward, and truly let yourself be. Her guidance is equal parts soulful and grounding, her words encouraging movement, stillness and reflection in equal measure. Through her classes and example she has inspired me to accept myself fully exactly as and where I am, while at the same time venture to discover some of my edges and sit with them for a while with curiosity. Yoga has been a life-long love of mine, and Alena has uncovered a new facet of it for me. She embodies all of the qualities of a wonderful yoga teacher: she is welcoming, knowledgeable, compassionate, exceedingly generous, and wise. And despite having been a teacher for many years, she remains as curious and humble as if she were a beginner, ever a student. As I get ready to embark on my own path as a yoga teacher, Alena is without a doubt a treasured model for the teacher I aspire to be. It is a joy and a privilege to be a student of yoga under her wing.
